Should you be eating Bananas if your goal is weight loss?
When looking to eat healthy, we are advised to stock up on fruits and veggies, but should bananas be part of your diet if you're trying to tighten that waist line? In short…..yes but not without consideration. Here are some of the reasons why bananas can aid weight loss and some tips on how to eat them.
Bananas are high in glucose which means they are a great source of fuel for fitness. Banana’s contain easily digestible sugar which not only provides energy for your workout, it also helps you recover by replenishes energy stores that you lose during a tough sweat session.
We would always suggest combining your banana with a good protein source such as almond or peanut butter. The natural sugar found in bananas could cause a huge blood sugar spike and cause your body to store fat. But combining them with some protein will help slow digestion and keep the insulin surge at bay.
We would advise only to eat bananas on the days you exercise and never more than one a day. This will ensures you’ll reap all the best benefits a banana has to offer without expanding your waistline.
Why not try a slice of wholemeal toast topped with almond butter and one sliced medium banana for breakfast before your next morning workout
